The Business, Property & Chancery team appear in all courts in England and Wales and before Land Registry adjudicators and in the Lands Tribunal. Chambers represents clients at arbitrations, mediations and other forms of ADR.

Our barristers frequently draft and advise upon a wide variety of commercial and private client matters both contentious and non contentious. Commercial Chancery

Our barristers appear in the County Court and all divisions of the High Court handling commercial litigation. We are well versed in all aspects of litigation, from high value contractual matters to consumer credit and the obtaining of freezing injunctions and asset tracing. We take pride in providing realistic commercial and economic solutions to all sizes of business and in actively litigating where appropriate.

Company and Insolvency

We act in all aspects of contentious insolvency law from voluntary arrangements, advising trustees in bankruptcy and corporate administrations and liquidations. Our barristers can advise on shareholder disputes, partnership and corporate dissolution and Directors liabilities (including prosecutions)

Real Property

Our barristers deal with all types of real property disputes, from boundary disputes and easements to mortgages, property fraud and nuisance or trespass claims. We can advise on negligence in conveyancing, adverse possession, estoppel and trusts, highways and commons and act for both individuals and corporate entities.

Landlord and Tenant

Barristers advise and litigate in the full range of contentious and non-contentious landlord and tenant work, including residential, commercial and agricultural. We advise housing associations and private tenants.

Trusts

We advise on trusts of all kinds, in particular breaches of trust or other fiduciary duties and the powers of Trustees. Our barristers are also experienced in litigating in relation to constructive, remedial and express trusts and the difficulties which can arise.

Wills and Estates

Our team deal with all aspects of probate, both contentious and non-contentious. We advise on the administration of estates, including will construction, the consequences of intestacy and difficulties in administration. Our barristers act in claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and in cases concerning testamentary capacity. We are experienced in dealing with issues such as undue influence, forgery and want of knowledge and approval.

Intellectual Property

In addition to traditional intellectual property disputes over Trade Marks, Copyright, Design Rights, etc., our barristers’ experience extends to advising and appearing in matters relating to the retention and use of confidential information and Data Protection matters.
