Police and council found to have acted unlawfully in sheep uplift.

Cardiff County Court today handed down judgment in Awdry –v- Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Police and Forest of Dean Council. The court found that the police and council had acted unlawfully in uplifting 54 sheep belonging to r Awdry.

The Police and Council had replied upon s24 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847, but the judge found that they were not able to bring themselves within the statute’s provisions.
