Emma Harris, instructed by Wales Complex Casework Unit, led the prosecution in Operation Typha, a complex multi-handed investigation into the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.

This investigation was the first prosecution case of modern slavery offences to proceed without any victim evidence.

By January 2025, all members of the organised crime group had pleaded guilty to the charges and collectively received over 25 years’ imprisonment after a 2-day sentencing hearing in March 2025.

Proceeds of Crime and Serious Crime Prevention Order proceedings in this matter remain ongoing.

The BBC have released a documentary on this case, which is available on iPlayer.
