Megan Eckley joined chambers as a tenant in 2025, following the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Emma Harris (Crime) and Nathan Jones (Family).

Megan accepts instructions across Chambers’ main practice areas.

Having grown up in Cardiff and attending Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, Megan is a fluent Welsh Speaker. Megan completed her undergraduate Law degree at The University of Exeter before completing the BTC (LLM) at Cardiff University. Megan won a scholarship from The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn to study the Bar Training Course. She achieved the second highest mark in her cohort on the BTC alongside the Christopher Clee QC award for the highest aggregate mark across the main advocacy modules. As part of her LLM, Megan completed a research project examining the impact of cyber-vigilantism on the integrity of the criminal justice system, for which she achieved a distinction.

Expertise

Megan takes instructions prosecuting and defending a wide range of matters in the Crown Court and Magistrates Court. In the Magistrates Court Megan is regularly instructed to defend trials, first hearings and sentences. In the Crown Court she has been instructed for sentences, mentions, Plea and Trial Preparation Hearings and appeals. During pupillage, Megan benefitted from working on criminal cases involving multi-handed drug conspiracies, serious sexual offences and assaults.

Megan has developed a keen interest in public family matters under the supervision of Nathan Jones. During pupillage, Megan benefitted from working on family cases in preparing case summaries, draft directions and threshold documents. Megan has been instructed on private family matters including urgent case management hearings and non-molestation orders.

Megan has developed a busy practice undertaking an array of County Court hearings and small claims trials. This has included personal injury cases arising from road traffic accidents, credit hire claims, directions hearings and applications to reallocate track.

Megan is regularly instructed on asylum appeals in the First-Tier Immigration Tribunal and has also appeared in the Upper Tribunal.
