Joseph Murphy specialises in family law and financial disputes arising from relationship breakdown.

A former solicitor with over a decade’s experience before coming to the Bar, he brings a calm, practical approach to emotionally and financially complex cases.

Joe began his legal career in 2007, working in the family department of a respected regional firm before moving to a Legal 500 practice in Cardiff. He later joined a Local Authority legal department, where he acted for Children’s Services in public law proceedings. In 2017, he was called to the Bar to focus on advocacy and joined 30 Park Place.

Joe’s practice is split between Family Court proceedings concerning private financial disputes, often involving property and pensions, and proceedings concerning children, including care and contact matters.. He appears at all levels of the Family Court and is known for his outcome-focused advice and ability to engage constructively with clients and professionals alike.

He is approachable, responsive, and realistic in his advice, with a strong understanding of how legal decisions affect people’s lives beyond the courtroom.

Alongside his practice, Joe acts as Chair of the Football Association of Wales’ Disciplinary Appeals and Safeguarding Panels, bringing sound judgment and fairness to regulatory decision-making in sport.
