Jane Crowley KC’s reputation as a highly effective advocate and shrewd tactician extends far beyond Wales. She conducts complex children cases in the fields of public and private law throughout England, and is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for her work.

Upon completion of her term of office as Head of Chambers at 30 Park Place, Jane moved her principal practice base to a leading set of family law chambers in London where she was swiftly recognised in the legal directories as a leading London Silk in addition to her ranking in Wales. Now again primarily based in Wales, she continues to act in serious and high-profile cases nationwide, and has appeared in all levels of court, including the Supreme Court.

Her caseload includes matters involving non-accidental death and catastrophic injury to children, including non-accidental head injury, as well as cases where congenital conditions, genetic disorders, or vitamin deficiencies have been mistaken for abuse. She has acted in allegations of honour-based violence, forced marriage, suspected radicalisation, fabricated or induced illness and sexual abuse.

Jane is regularly instructed in child protection cases that involve parallel criminal proceedings, including charges of murder, attempted murder, sexual abuse, child cruelty and neglect. She has particular expertise in matters involving parents with learning disabilities or mental health issues, and in cases requiring special advocates, public interest immunity, or complex disclosure. She is also trusted in matters involving parents linked to serious organised crime or placed under witness protection.

Her measured approach and exceptional judgement make her a first choice for complex and highly sensitive family and child care work.

Expertise

Jane specialises in complex and sensitive children law cases, across both public and private law. She is regularly instructed in matters involving non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, radicalisation, and serious criminal allegations. Her work often involves parallel proceedings, special advocates, and highly confidential issues requiring expert handling and clear judgement.
