First Operation Jasmine inquests conclude

Inquests touching the deaths of six residents have concluded, following their commencement in January 2021. The inquests were heard concurrently over 9 weeks.

Narrative verdicts were given in respect of five residents, whilst a short form conclusion was given in respect of one resident.

Live issues in the inquest included: care home neglect, protection of vulnerable adults and the effectiveness of inter-agency working.

Melissa Jones was instructed by Rebecca Siegle of the Royal College of Nursing to represent a nurse who worked at the care home. Melissa was successful in resisting a finding of unlawful killing in respect of her client.

Sophie Kenny was instructed by Craig Court of Harding Evans Solicitors to represent an employee of the Health Board who was an IP in their own right.
