Practice Overview

Sarah practises predominantly in criminal law, prosecuting and defending in cases involving a wide range of offences including sexual offences, violence, public disorder, dishonesty, fraud, drugs, money laundering, regulatory and road traffic offences. She regularly represents Local Authorities in Public Interest Immunity applications and hearings. She holds an interest in civil actions against the police and also practices in matters of personal injury.

Sarah has a very down to earth approach in her work and possesses the ability to build up client relationships quickly with her thorough approach; ensuring she achieves the best outcome for her professional and lay clients.

  • R v Jenkins (2011) Defending a client charged with murder 
  • "Lynette White" murder (2010) perjury/conspiracy to pervert course of justice involving police officers allegedly fitting up innocent man for murder – obtained a rare nolle prosequi stay of proceedings for her client
  • Operation Thistle: R v Baker (2010) Multiple complainants in a case involving a wide range of sexual offences from rape to child prostitution.
  • Operation Corolla: R v Cuell (2003): Class A and Class B drugs conspiracy and money laundering trial involving the Newport area.
  • Operation Gearstick: R v Nutman (2001): Class A and Class B drugs conspiracy case involving trafficking from London to Newport.
  • Caerphilly CBC v Hughes, Verity & Rowlands: LTL 17/3/2006. QBD (Silber J): Contempt of court - making false statements/fraudulent personal injury claim. Sentencing implications.
