Practice Overview

Rhian’s practice focuses on Local Authority work, parent and guardian work within the area of family and childcare. Additionally, her previous experience of working within a busy Local Authority child care team has provided her with in-depth and invaluable experience as to the complex workings and structures of the processes relevant to a practice in child care.

Rhian works on difficult cases within the field of child care, and has significant experience in cases of sexual abuse, neglect and physical abuse including those involving non accidental injury.

Notable and Reported Cases

  • Court of Appeal-finding of indecent assault following acquittal in criminal court. Inability to cross-examine children hampered defence
  • Representing Local Authorities in cases such as (a) non accidental injury spanning many years against a group of siblings and (b) allegations of historical non accidental injury.
  • Representing parents and grandparents facing allegations of significant non accidental injury and / or sexual abuse, sometimes in respect of multiple children over many years.
  • Representing the Guardian instructing experts of various disciplines in cases involving sexual and/ or physical abuse and neglect.
  • The complexity of the injuries in each case has required expertise from medical professionals of varied disciplines both from the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
