Practice Overview
Olivia was educated at Croesyceiliog Comprehensive School before obtaining an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Law at Cardiff University. Olivia was awarded the Queen Mother Scholarship by Middle Temple and completed the Bar Vocational Course at Cardiff Centre for Professional Legal Studies. She was called to the Bar in 2008 and successfully completed pupillage at 30 Park Place under the supervision of Marian Lewis and Ruth Henke QC, following which she became a tenant at Chambers.
Olivia has a wide and varied practice which has a particular emphasis on family and civil litigation.
Olivia accepts instructions across the spectrum of family law but has a particular interest in public and private Children Act proceedings. Olivia has acted for a variety of parties during these proceedings up to and including final hearing. She also has experience in representing parties involved in applications for placement orders parallel to Care Order Applications and at adoption hearings. Within the public law sphere, she has dealt with cases involving neglect, physical and emotional abuse and substance misuse. Olivia has acted for, and within, cases involving parties suffering from learning and mental health difficulties. She also undertakes family work involving a financial emphasis including ancillary relief and FLA 1996 applications, as well as applications for Occupation Orders and non-molestation orders.
Olivia has been involved in section 8 applications where there have been allegations of both physical and sexual abuse. Such abuse has involved both adults and children as victims and perpetrators and such hearings have often necessitated fact finding hearing to resolve the issues.
Olivia has experience in all areas of civil litigation and is frequently instructed to undertake written advisory work and drafting. Olivia’s central civil practice area is personal injury and she provides representation in such matters which do not resolve without litigation. Olivia accepts instructions to provide such representation at all allocated tracks.
