Practice Overview

Following the successful completion of his pupillage Nathan has been a tenant at Thirty Park Place since 2009. Nathan has acquired experience in a range of courts and tribunals including the High Court, Crown and County Courts and Employment and Social Security Tribunals.

In the area of family law, Nathan represents Local Authorities, Parents and Guardian’s in public law proceedings from the first to final hearing in both the FPC and County Courts. He also undertakes all section 8 applications and applications under FLA 1996 as well as quickly developing a practice in matrimonial finance.

Nathan undertakes a wide range of civil work, including Road Traffic Accidents, Credit Hire, Service Charge Arrears, Occupiers Liability, Work Place Injuries, Highway Tripping, Benefit Appeals, Package Holiday Litigation and is happy to accept instructions on a CFA basis.

Nathan also regularly assists the Bar Council in delivering education for universities and schools on the Wales and Chester circuit.

Notable and Reported Cases

Criminal

Prosecuting and defending in a wide variety of cases both in the Magistrates and Crown Courts including experience of:

  • Youth Offending
  • Prosecuting on behalf of VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency).

R v Andrews [2010] Nathan was instructed and acted for the defence in a murder trial.

Operation Jasmine [2009] During pupillage Nathan gained considerable experience assisting his pupil master in the well publicised second trial of 'Operation Jasmine' concerning the wilful neglect of patients in nursing homes.

Family and Childcare

[2010] EWHC 2846 (Fam) Nathan represented a birth parent at a final hearing in the High Court in relation to an “exceptionally unusual” case of an application for contact with a biological child who was previously the subject of a closed adoption.

Civil

Nathan has represented one of the United Kingdom’s largest airline companies in relation to claims made by passengers resulting from delays and cancellations caused by inclement weather conditions.
