Practice Overview

Marian has a wide ranging practice. She is regularly instructed by the prosecution and defence both as junior and leading junior in cases of homicide, complex fraud, serious and historic sexual offences, child cruelty and drugs conspiracies. Whilst she has been recognised as possessing particular expertise and sensitivity in dealing with vulnerable witnesses and clients she has successfully represented many professional clients.

Marian lectures regularly on Evidence, Current Legal Developments and Sexual Offences for accredited courses and seminars provided by The Wales and Chester Circuit, The Law Society and Thirty Park Place . She also assists in providing advocacy training to young practitioners on Circuit.

She is a fluent Welsh speaker and is therefore able and happy to advise and represent clients in this language.

   Death by Dangerous Driving

  • R v W Prosecuting Causing Death by Dangerous Driving defence being automatism as a result of hypoglaecaemic attack. First successful application by the Prosecution on this circuit for a terminating ruling from a decision of the trial judge 

   Serious Sexual Offences

  • R v H Defending mother jointly charged with raping her own children aged under 5 years  
  • R v D Defending woman charged with controlling prostitution and people trafficking
  • R v T Defending young man with severe learning difficulties charged with raping a baby and 3 year old boy  
  • R v B Defending professional person charged with historic multiple rapes as part of paedophile ring
