Practice Overview

Following a successful career spanning nineteen years as one of the founding partners of a leading firm of specialist criminal solicitors, Jeffrey transferred to the Bar and has been with Thirty Park Place since 2007.

Jeffrey’s practice areas include all types of heavy crime and most serious sex offences. He also represents young defendants and is often instructed in cases with demanding and difficult defendants. Jeffrey has undertaken cut throat defences and is developing a practice in sexual offences and the ill treatment of patients having acted as junior and alone in such areas. He is regularly instructed on murder cases.

Jeffrey has also prosecuted regulatory offences such as Illegal money lending and blackmail, trade descriptions, trademarks, health and safety work, environmental health cases and benefit fraud.

He has also defended insolvency fraud and death by dangerous driving and is developing a practice defending ‘shaken baby syndrome’ cases.

Notable and Reported Cases

  • R v Tinklin Woolwich Crown Court (2009)
    Acted for a defendant and successfully persuaded the crown to withdraw
    the terrorist charge leaving simply explosive substances offences.

Murder

  • R v JR Williams (2009) Junior Counsel where the defendant was eventually convicted of manslaughter
  • R v B Evans 2009&R v B Lewis (2010)
    Both cases of stabbing resulting in manslaughter convictions

Sexual offences

  • Historic rape on natural daughter
  • Attempt rape by 14 year old on 13 year old
  • Rape by a foreign national
  • Rape by a 15 year old
  • Sexual assault by student on teacher
  • Female indecent assault on 14 year-old boy
  • Child abduction and indecent assault
